Only days ago, Lionel Messi claimed that Cristian Romeo is ‘the best defender in the world’ after Argentina beat Ecuador to kick off their World Cup qualifier with three points.
And on Tuesday evening, the Tottenham star helped his nation to another win and a clean sheet, this time their 3-0 win over Bolivia.
Rodrigo de Paul and Emiliano Martinez started the game alongside Romero, as the world champions picked up from where they left off at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, even though they were without Lionel Messi yesterday.
After the game, Romero took to his Instagram to express his delight at representing his country, as well as putting up another three points.
In the comments section of his post, the no-nonsense centre-back was lauded by a number of his teammates.

Romero stars for Argentina again
“How I like it that you take care of me, Cristian,” said de Paul, whilst Aston Villa’s number one Emiliano Martinez added: ‘Whoah’.
Romero is Tottenham’s main defender
Summer signing Micky van de Ven has made a brilliant start to life at Spurs, whilst youngster Destiny Udogie is also shining bright out on the left.
But there is no doubt that Romero is the main man at the back for Ange Postecoglou, and if they are to get back to Europe, then he has to remain fit.
If either centre-back gets injured, then it will be interesting to see who Postecoglou turns to, with the possibility that Eric Dier, who is yet to feature this season, returns to the XI.
