Elderly man killed in hit-and-run on Goulburn road sparking call for witnesses

The man died at the scene.

An elderly man has died after being struck by a car in a suspected hit-and-run in the NSW Southern Tablelands on Monday night.

The 80-year-old pedestrian was found suffering fatal head injuries, lying in the middle of Middle Arm Rd, Goulburn at about 7.30pm.

It’s believed he was hit by a car that failed to stop, triggering a police appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage.

“Initial inquiries indicate the man’s injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle,” NSW Police said.

“Members of the public had stopped to assist the 80-year-old man, who was also treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics; however, he died at the scene.”

A crime scene has been established, and local detectives are looking into the man’s movements before the incident.

Anyone witnesses, or people who were travelling along Middle Arm Rd or the surrounding streets on Monday evening, are urged to contact Crime Stoppers.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
