
Emergency personnel reported gunshots at Taylorsville High School on Thursday afternoon.
School parking lot shots were reported at around 12:40.
Police are searching for the suspect inside the Lockout Protocol Hartvigsen Elementary School, Taylorsville High School, Plymouth Elementary School and Granite School District buildings. The suspect is believed to be inside the Lockout Protocol Granite School District building, and classes are continuing as usual in all other schools in the school district.

The Taylorsville Police Department temporarily placed Vista Elementary School and Bennion Junior High School in Lockout Protocol in order to search for a suspect in the area. However, these protocols were lifted once classes resumed.
The Mattress Firm across Redwood Road from the high school told KSL TV it was operating normally.
In 1981, a public high school was opened in Taylorsville named Taylorville High School. The school’s principal is Mrs. Emily Liddell. Taylorsville High, one of eight high schools in Granite School District, has a population of over 2,900 students. It is home to the Wilbur the Warrior mascot. The warrior is an image of a male with an athletic build and facial hair characteristic of his ethnic group. Taylorsville High School is located in the center of the Salt Lake valley. It was built in 1981 for the expanding population of Taylorsville residents. The school’s boundaries roughly correspond to Jordan River to 3100 West and 4100 South to 6600 South (excluding areas between 4500 S and 4700 S and approximately Jordan River and 950 W).
