The shooting happened on a residential street at about 1:45 p.m. near Rustic Lane Elementary School in the Rubidoux neighborhood of Jurupa Valley. The streets are blocked off in the area.

A Riverside County Sheriff’s Department deputy was taken to the hospital in an unspecified condition Thursday afternoon after being shot in Jurupa Valley, officials said.

The injured congressman, whose identity has not been released, was taken to Riverside Community Hospital, the spokesperson said.

“An RSO deputy was shot. Sheriff Bianco will hold a press conference later this afternoon,” the Sheriff’s Department tweeted.

Details of the shooting were not immediately available.

Video and photos posted on social media showed emergency vehicles, including a dozen police cars, parked at the intersection of Condor Drive and Golden West Avenue.
