We are sad to announce that our incredible, wild and loving mother has passed away after battling a recently discovered form of cancer.

Surrounded by her closest family, she fights with vigor and reassures us of her unending enthusiasm for life and all the adventures to come. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother.

We are grateful for the care of the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at Moffitt Cancer Center.

The joie de vivre and enthusiasm of our mother, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, and her undying joy of creating are unmatched and inspire us to enjoy life as much as she did.

Kirstie Louise Alley is an American actress. Her breakthrough role was as Rebecca Howe on the NBC sitcom Cheers (1987-1993), for which she won an Emmy and a Golden Globe in 1991. From 1997 to 2000, she starred in the sitcom “Veronica’s Closet” and further received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.

During the 1980s and 1990s, Avery appeared in various films, including Summer School (1987), Shooting to Kill (1988), See Who’s Talking (1989) and its two sequels (1990–1993), Madhouse ( 1990), Siblings (1990) ), Cursed Village (1995), It Takes Two (1995), Deconstructing Harry (1997), Rich or Poor (1997) and Peerless Beauty” (1999). In 1994, she won her second Emmy Award for the TV movie “David’s Mother.”

In 1997, Allie received another Emmy nomination for the crime series The Last Don. In 2005, she played a fictionalized version of herself on Showtime’s Fat Actress. She later appeared in Kirstie Alley’s Big Life (2010) and was a contestant on season 12 of Dancing With the Stars (2011-2012), finishing second. In 2013, Alley returned to star on the sitcom Kirstie. In 2016, she appeared in the Fox comedy-horror series Scream Queens. In 2018, she was a contestant on season 22 of the British reality show Celebrity Big Brother, finishing second. On December 5, 2022, her children announced that she had passed away after a battle with cancer.
