His family and friends mourned the loss of a Macomb town man after his Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a utility pole in northern Macomb County on Tuesday.

Daniel Evola, 34, was trying to overtake on Romeo Plank Road in Raytown when he lost control of the car and hit a pole, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. He was locked in the Corvette while the live wires had been removed.

“Both the driver of the van and an independent witness testified that the Corvette was trying to overtake the van on a northbound Romeo Plank when it appeared to lose control, spin and hit a telephone pole,” Sgt. Renee Yax said in a statement. said in a statement.

The horrific accident happened around 1.30pm. On the Romeo Boardwalk just north of Mile 26 on Tuesday.

A representative responding to a 911 call found a badly damaged Corvette wrapped around a utility pole. Yax said Evora was in the driver’s seat, gasping for breath.

The Corvette hit a post, causing live wires to fall to the ground.

Authorities said the van was parked behind the Corvette when supply police snapped it up, causing the transformer to fall off the windshield of the white van.

The truck driver has been identified as a 52-year-old Utica resident, who representatives said he was awake and conscious. He refused treatment.

According to the sheriff’s office, a live wire on a utility pole fell near the Corvette, preventing first responders from entering the Evola.

After firefighters were able to remove the cables, they were able to remove the Evola from the vehicle. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
